The Pareto Association would like to invite you to the inaugural discussion of the “Pareto Economic Forum”. The Forum is a monthly discussion with policy makers on current economic topics.
For our first activity, which will be held on November 30th at 4.15pm, we have invited Dr. Martin Mandorff, Head of the Unit for Market Abuse at the Swedish Competition Agency. Mr. Mandorff has a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago. The plan is to have a 30m presentation on the practical application of economic theory to the cases faced by the Swedish Competition Authority.
Specifically, the discussion will cover the origins of antitrust and how to apply economics to antitrust analysis. It will also analyze how competition policy can be applied to new problems in the online economy – where market power often gets very concentrated, while at the same time it can can erode suddenly due to disruptive innovations.
After the discussion we will have a Q&A with students. Hope weather doesn’t ruin us this time around!
